Don’t Panic Organix
Diabolic Funxta is a blissful mix of American-bred varieties.
The mother is an East Coast Sour Diesel and the father is an
American Funxta, a triple inbred cross (IBX) of the Platinum
OG Kush inbred line (IBL). While the Kush parent is known for
high quality, dreamy buds, it tends to be tall, lanky, and low
yielding. The Sour Diesel mama is a bulkier gal with more
generous yields. Some people really like the strong flavors of
the Sour Diesel as well as its jet-fueled stoney qualities that
quickly reach high altitudes.
Diabolic Funxta’s sativa-dominant parentage inclines her to
grow taller than average plants, with average indoor heights
easily topping 5 feet but usually staying under 6 feet. At the
outset, these big “Cali Kush”-style plants resemble smaller
sisters to a true Haze, but as they progress, they gain a thicker
density, losing the wispiness typical of haze plants. Diabolic
Funxta is better as a multi-branch plant, rather than trying to
tame her to a sea of green, although if you must use a sea of
green technique, force flowering early on. When allowed to
branch, DF plants resemble large Jewish menorahs. Indoor
plants finish about 2 weeks quicker when grown hydro instead
of soil.
When grown outdoors from seed, Diabolic Funxta takes a
total of 5–6 months. Outdoor plants become massive, easily
growing to heights between 9 and 11 feet. In California, DF’s
growth cycle typically translates to a late October or early
November harvest. This variety thrives in areas throughout the
southwestern US where seeds have been tested in multiple
locations and found to perform well in both humid and dry
regions. Diabolic Funxta likes good rich soil and light nutrients.
DF plants form 5 to 6 long thick diamond-shaped main colas,
or even more when they are topped or super-cropped. As the
buds become fuller, they swell in a corkscrew shape and begin
to acquire the strong diesel-kush aroma. Average indoor yields
improve upon the father Kush, producing 4–5 ounces (115g)
per plant. Outside, 3–4 pounds per plant is a reasonable
expectation. This variety is flexible, showing little to no stress
during transplanting and cloning.
The Diabolic Funxta is perhaps more funky than diabolical.
Its high is cheerful with effects that reverberate through the
mind and body like a wild drum solo. The flavor blends the
diesel kush parentage, combining a strong sour diesel citrus
aroma with a smooth floral kush taste, and a heavy diesel
exhale that lingers on the tongue. Medicinally, it has worked
well for eye pressure, lower back pain, migraines, multiple
sclerosis, and wasting syndrome.
